Kitchen and Bathroom Countertops

A properly selected countertop can define the feel of your kitchen or bathroom and increase the functionality of the space. This post will provide a quick overview of different countertop materials and styles available at Coordinated Kitchen & Bath to assist you with your kitchen renovation and bathroom renovation.

Laminate: The least expensive countertop material. Laminate is made in a wide variety of colours and can easily be cut into different shapes and sizes. Laminate countertops can look like more expensive materials and are generally easier to install. However, it should be noted that laminate countertops are easy to damage and show scratches and dents.

Granite: Natural stone that is sealed before being installed in your kitchen and bathroom. Granite is a durable stone that is resistant to heat and shock. Granite countertops are available in numerous colours, however, because they are made from natural stone, patterns and colours may vary from section to section. In conjunction, being natural stone, granite is porous and can show stains and acidic wear if not properly maintained. Granite counter-tops need to be resealed once a year in order to help prevent staining.

Soapstone: Natural stone that is sealed. Like granite, soapstone is a durable material that will not stain. Soapstone countertops can scratches easily, though damage by scratches can be reduced by sanding.

Quartz: Engineered stone countertop that is made up of 93% quartz crystals and 7% resin. Quartz countertops are designed to resemble the look of natural stone, however, different colours are added to give quartz a unified and polished look. Quartz is one of the most popular countertops in West Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Corian: A solid surface countertop manufactured by DuPont. The primary substances used in Corian countertops are acrylic polymers and various stone derived materials. Corian countertops are available in a wide-range of colours and patterns. Corian is easy to clean and is stain resistant, as the material is non porous. However, while stain-resistant, Corian scratches quite easily and can be damaged by placing hot pans and vessels on the counter-top.

This great new project by Coordinated Kitchen and Bath shows some nifty kitchen cabinet organizational solutions using Hertco Kitchens LLC cabinets. This project was managed by Coordinated Kitchen and Bath's Allan Wray.

Coordinated Kitchen and Bath has had a 30 plus year relationship with Hertco Cabinets, a relationship largely developed by senior kitchen cabinet designer Michael Phillips.

As we have already expressed countless times to you, friends, family, neighbours, and anyone who witnessed the transformation of our kitchen, ensuite and guest bathroom, we are absolutely delighted with our ‘new’ home that you, Michael, Paula and your entire awesome team at Coordinated Kitchen & Bath have created for us. You delivered exactly what was promised, and more, on-time, and on-budget. In every way, this renovation, and your team, exceeded all of our expectations.

From the first day we met, you managed the entire project (and us!) in a very professional manner. Your talent for listening carefully & patiently responding to all our questions and every concern helped dispel our fears about undertaking this project.

Your Vision and fantastic design recommendations improved ön our ideas and enhanced each room beyond our hopes and expectations. Throughout the build, we appreciated you &eing on-site nearly every day, sending daily updates on contractor progress and guiding us through each step to completion. All of this gave us tremendous comfort and confidence that we, and our home, were in excellent hands.

Our kitchen is now the bright, open, more functional, and absolutely beautiful space we hoped for. lt’s the central space in our home where we want to spend time together and entertain more. Our ensuite bathroom, is everything, and definitely more, than we dreamed it could be. lt’s now the ‘wow’ room in the house – a gorgeous and luxurious spa-like retreat. Our guest bathroom is brighter, refreshed and pretty – perfect.

We also want speciflcally acknowledge the excellent quality workmanship by your team. Over the weeks, Tom and Dave became like family, and they treated our home like their own – no detail was too small. Their construction and carpentry skills, experience and expertise were always evident. Peter really enjoyed watching and learning from them. Stan and Walter’s talent with the tue Installation in both the kitchen and ensuite was exceptional. Steve was so fastidious with cabinet and crown moulding installation in all 3 rooms – they look fantastic. Boggie and Blair’s team were also awesome. Everyone was professional and very skilled in their respective trade, and it was obvious they had worked together before, knew and respected each others’ talents. We definitely feel Iike we had the “A” team at our home.

Thank-you again for everything. We’re very grateful to all of you for guiding us through this virtually worry-free process, and for creating such a beautiful home that we’re Very, very proud of. All of you are welcome, anytime.
