Dear Michael and Paula,
We have been meaning to write to tell you both how pleased we are with the work you did in our renovations. Somehow the time just seemed to rush by and we never did get around to it. It is now Christmas and somehow it seems expedient to procrastinate no longer, otherwise, it will be the year 2001, and then we will think it is too late to write. That would be unfortunate, as we would forever feel badly that we did not recognize your work with a letter of appreciation.

You may not realize this but before we dropped into your place we had done a fair amount of research and checking out of kitchens. Consequently, we knew what we wanted; or, as it turned out, thought we did. Michael, you have a most wonderful, diplomatic way of suggesting various options and ideas. Never once did we feel pressured nor dim witted when you brought up alternative ideas to our own preconceived notions of what was ideal. Now that the work is completed and we are using the kitchen daily, we are happy to inform you that you were correct in every instance. We would not change one thing.

We were very impressed with all the sub-trades you arranged to do the various jobs. They were great. We appreciated the way you overlooked the work in progress; always making sure it was completed to our satisfaction. (Or, should we say to your own high standards?) We have had other businesses claim that the work will not be done until completely satisfied. You were one of the few to follow through on that commitment.

Paula, what can we say? You transformed the house. You may not be as subtle as Michael when it comes to presenting suggestions but your enthusiasm and great grasp of colour was what was needed to help two stodgy, off-white traditionalists try colour for a change. You did an amazing job.

Everyone who visits is most impressed with the job. We expect you will be hearing from some of our friends when they reach the stage of requiring renovations. We certainly have no qualms or reservations in recommending you both to anyone interested in having work done.

We wish you and your staff a very Merry Christmas and all the best in 2001.

Yours truly,

Doug and Elaine Slight
